Kia ora!
Rails Girls comes to Wellington! During this free two-day workshop we'll dive into the magical world of Ruby on Rails.
We are running a workshop during the weekend of May 16 & 17.
All of the material is available for you to learn at home by yourself but Rails Girls offers a casual and friendly environment to learn with others and a good tutor to student ratio to help get past some tricky areas.
Applications are closed for 2015! Sign up for our email list and we'll let you know when we hold another workshop.
You learn designing, prototyping and coding with the help from our coaches. We introduce you to Ruby on Rails as one of the open-source web developing frameworks.
You need your own laptop, curiosity and a sprinkle of imagination! Very very limited laptops available to loan for the weekend - please indicate on your application form if you need one.
Want to help? Send us an email if you'd like to be involved - email us.
How much does the workshop cost? Nothing, it's free! You just need to be excited!
Who is this aimed at? Rails Girls Wellington is open to all those who identify as women or girls with basic knowledge of working with a computer. Currently, we are only taking people who have already left school, as we will be holding a separate school aged event.
Can men attend? Yes, but you need to be accompanied by an interested lady. Also, girls are given a priority.
Do you have a code of conduct? Yes - it is here. We expect attendees, coaches, and sponsor representatives to behave respectfully to make sure everyone has a great time.
