Rails Girls Ruhr

Rails Girls is coming to Dortmund! A non-profit event for women of all ages to give them a great first experience in software craftsmanship and inspire a confidence to start building things on their own. With one dedicated coach per two or three learners, students will build a web application, from concept to code. Learn sketching, prototyping, basic programming and get introduced to the world of technology.

Saturday, October 26th, 2019

9:00 am	Coffee & registration Sign in, grab some grub and get ready to code.
9:30 am	Kick off talk
9:45 am	Building your app Enough small talk, it's hands on coding time!
11:00 am	Lightning talk tbd
11:15 am	Building your app Dive back into models, views and controllers.
12:00 pm	Lunch Pizza! And some free time to chat with your amazing participants.
1:00 pm	Building your app Fueled up and ready to make things!
3:30 pm	Lightning talk! tbd
3:45 pm - 5:00 pm	Launch and wrap up! Wrap up and if time permits, polish design, add additional features or host your website online!

How much does the workshop cost?
Nothing, it's free! You just need to be excited!

Do I need a laptop?
Yes! Please bring it with you :)

Can men attend?
Yes, but girls are given a priority.

Who is this aimed for?
Women of any age with basic knowledge of working with a computer. We’ve had people of all ages taking part. The workshop will be in English, but there will be coaches who speak German and a German version of the tutorial as well.

Can I help out as a coach? Yes you can! Make sure to sign up here for that! No previous knowledge of Ruby or Rails is necessary, experience with web programming is enough.

Girls* Although we use "girls" or "women" in our name, we welcome people who identify as female of any age, ethnicity and background. No matter if you’re still in school, don’t work with tech, have been working for many years or stay at home. Girls isn't meant to be cutesy or ageist :)
