Rails Girls comes to Philadelphia! During the one and a half-day workshop we'll dive into the magical world of Ruby on Rails.

You learn designing, prototyping and coding with the help from our coaches.

You need your own laptop, curiosity and a sprinkle of imagination!

Installation party

Get know the attendees a little bit before hand. Bring your laptop if you can, so we can install Ruby on Rails with you.

Saturday 26th April

Let's rock and code!

This is a fun, hands-on workshop where you will learn the following:

  • Understanding the difference between dynamic and static web pages
  • Basic components of a web application
  • ABC's of coding including strings, methods, variables, arrays, blocks... as well as the tools (terminal, browser, text editor).
  • Concepts including Rails Generators, Scaffolds, Gem Management, REST/Resources, Controllers, Views, etc.
  • Basics of creating an app

Who is this aimed for? Women and girls (at least 12 years) with knowledge of how to use a computer that have a laptop.

Can men attend? Sure! We just encourage that you invite a woman or girl to register, too. :)
