Kia ora!
Rails Girls comes to Christchurch! Join us at this free workshop where we'll dive into the magical world of Ruby on Rails.
We are running a workshop at the end of May - evening of Friday 27th & all day Saturday 28th.
All of the material is available for you to learn at home by yourself but Rails Girls offers a casual and friendly environment to learn with others and a good tutor to student ratio to help get past some tricky areas.
Unfortunately we have reached maximum capacity, but would love to run more Rails Girls events in future. If you would like to hear about those events and/or would like a spot on the waitlist for our May event, please fill out this form.
You learn designing, prototyping and coding with the help from our coaches. We introduce you to Ruby on Rails as one of the open-source web developing frameworks.
You need your own laptop, curiosity and a sprinkle of imagination! Very very limited laptops available to loan for the weekend - please indicate on your application form if you need one.
Coaches We've got a great team of coaches from various companies in Christchurch and New Zealand coming together for the weekend. Watch this space if you would like to coach at future events.
How much does the workshop cost? Nothing, it's free! You just need to be excited!
Who is this aimed at? Women of any age with basic knowledge of working with a computer. We've had people of all ages taking part. Please bring your laptop.
Can men attend? Yes, but you need to be accompanied by an interested lady. Also, girls are given a priority.
Do you have a code of conduct? Yes we do, we are using the Ruby NZ code of conduct which you can see here. We expect attendees, coaches, and sponsor representatives to behave respectfully to make sure everyone has a great time.
